Of all the aspects of management of technological innovation (MTI), innovation strategy is the most challenging. Appropriate MTI, leads to value delivery, sustaining competitiveness, profit making, refreshing working environments, maintaining and retaining productive labor. Successful MTI occurs solely when a broad set of elements and organizational activities are well managed and integrated within innovation strategy of organization. Firms can be very good at the various activities involved in MTI, such as R&D or operations, but this accounts for little unless it is supported by a well-grounded innovation strategy that guides firms’ choices, prioritizations, and sequences. One of the concepts in the field of innovation strategy is innovative capabilities. Innovative capabilities are defined as bundles and patterns of skills used by firms to formulate and implement an innovation strategy involving the creation, extension, and modification of those resources and skills used for innovation. In each phase of the innovation strategy formulation, different tools may be used. Choosing the right tool depends on various criteria. Some of the criteria are as follows: Is firm new or well established, large or small, centralized or dispersed in its organization, deals in simple or complex products and services, operates within well-defined or uncertain technological and market circumstances, with a major or minor impact on society, safety, and the environment. In the article, using an integrated approach of innovative method and innovative decision-making method based on engineering technical innovation, and innovative capabilities, right tools in each phase of innovative capabilities, which finally leads to strategy formulation, is recognized. Some of the most practical tools are SWOT analysis and Delphi. Manuscript profile

In recent decades, the reduction of income inequality should be considered as the strategy of the major objectives of economic and social development and even the government. Therefore, analysis of income distribution and distributional effects of policies in order to increase economic growth has gained importance. On the other hand, the ability to achieve creative innovation using human resources as the first step is to convert knowledge into wealth. So, considering the critical importance of innovation in modern economies, the present study investigated the role of innovation on income inequality of OPEC countries and selected the OECD developed countries during the period 1995-2009. The results suggest that the status of OPEC countries compared to OECD countries in both the Gini index as well as innovation is weak and undesirable, due to the lack of coordination between macro-economic policies from one side and research and educational policies form other side. Also based on the results, most countries with better support for innovative activities have shown better income distribution. Thus, the movement of countries with economy and capital resources oriention towards knowledge-based economy, innovative activities support and reduce income inequality are essential orientations for macro-economic policies along with research and educational policies. High speed changes and evolutions in technological environment are among the important subjects in business which has made the ability to plan and decide in this area impossible without a proper perception of the present and future situation of technology. Therefore, determination, creation and development of the industrial and research co-workers network using the open innovation and employing the technology intelligence in order to observe the technological evolutions for technology-based organizations and also the technology and science progress that has a direct effect on the business area of these organizations are very important. On the other hand, since the increasing growth of the internet in increasing the input resources for technology intelligence has a key effect, the appropriate employment and use of information technology tools for accessing and analyzing these inputs has also been changed into a key point in technology intelligence creation. Thus, the organization`s strategy in determination and acquisition of the appropriate process of technology intelligence has become very important so that organization requires to merger the innovation and idea from out of the organization with main advantages from inside the organization. As a result, establishing a systematic framework, the organizations, creating a connection between the technology intelligence and open innovation, can help their purpose and increase the technology intelligence value. In other words, technology intelligence as an open innovation approach tool creates a relation between knowledge and idea from out of the organization and main advantages from inside the organization results in creating a competitive advantage for the organization. Large and small companies are faced with a significant environmental complexity and turbulent business world. The world is changing at an unprecedented rate due to technological advances. For most businesses, the ability to monitor, identify, and master critical technological skills and technologies is important .In times of economic downturn, technology and innovation can be potent sources of growth as long as the investment and talent are there to drive them. Innovation, creativity and technology are enablers of economic advancement. In this paper, the importance of Innovation, Creativity management and Technology Scouting for organizations in a turbulent environment is explored and it is shown that the winners will be those that react to the crisis by further embracing technology and innovation to find ways to become more productive and competitive. It is shown that sometimes it is better for an organization to put another part of itself out of business rather than have the competition destroy the whole business. Innovation is a team effort and successfully managing innovation teams is an art. The first step toward innovation is the openness of an organization to new ideas and concepts. It is mentioned that managers cannot order creativity; managers can only provide an environment where creativity grows well. An important step is to establish an organizational culture that fosters creativity. As one of the biggest obstacles to fostering innovation and creativity is uptight and rigid people, the paper emphasizes on organizational openness to new ideas and concepts and discusses the ways to achieve this goal with a view to past experiments. Technology scouting is another important factor that can serve as an early warning system. The early detection of new technologies allows an organization time to prepare for or even acquire these technologies before they have a negative business impact on the firm. However, it is important that the process is performed in the right way to guarantee the best possible extent of technology surveillance occurs. In this paper, it is explained that organizations must keep a keen focus on technological areas that could affect the business environment. Overall, it is concluded that for organizations in a turbulent environment, developing an environment that fosters creativity and innovation is an important step in assuring long-term survival. To fail to do so can mean the death of an organization. Manuscript profile

Open innovation and absorptive capacity are two popular concepts in contemporary innovation management literature. firms' absorptive capacity, as it has been defined by Cohen and Levinthal (1990), determines their ability to in-source externally developed technology or ideas. In this paper, we tie these two concepts to each other and prove how the recent insights about open innovation can advance our understanding of absorptive capacity. External technology sourcing is becoming more important for a number of reasons: Shortening technology life cycles, emerging technologies with the potential to disrupt market leaders' positions, sharing costs and risks associated with science based technology, globalization of the R&D activities as a response of companies to the greater dissemination of knowledge throughout the world, the growing importance of seed and venture capital to finance excellent business ideas, etc... These inter-organizational knowledge flows do not materialize automatically and firms have to develop skills to tap into external sources of technology. Furthermore, absorptive capacity is crucial in explaining why some companies are better than others in creating and capturing value from in-sourcing externally developed technology and technological collaboration with innovation partners. Hence, absorptive capacity and the outside-in dimension of open innovation are necessarily linked to each other. The purpose of this paper is to analyze how absorptive capacity and the outside-in dimension of open innovation can be linked to each other. We focus on the question how complementary between internal and external technology plays a role in open innovation and absorptive capacity of innovating firms. This paper discuss about open innovation around two key factors (humanity & organizational) and relate it to absorptive capacity .Then analyses conceptual model with SWOT. Manuscript profile

Competitiveness is an issue that in recent decade has shifted the attention of many researchers and policymakers to its side. In today's world of expanding globalization, countries are employing all their efforts and use all of their capacities to be able to gain more shares of international markets by improving the competitiveness. Among the factors that increase the competitiveness of the countries, the basic needs indicators, efficiency-driven and innovation-driven can be noted that all of them have been considered in Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum as one of the most reliable sources of competitiveness at the national level. In this paper, we try to investigate the status of overall index of competitiveness and innovation and basic factors influencing the competitiveness among OPEC members according to the Global Competitiveness Report 2010-2011. The results show that the state of competitiveness among countries is not so appropriate, also it should be noted that their competitive power is largely dependent on infrastructure and macroeconomic environment which themselves function from oil exports and foreign exchange revenues. Beside, the innovation components of their competitiveness are poor. Thus, it should be noted that the economic decision- makers in these countries are recommended to push their competitive power toward relying on innovation-driven components which have more flexibility and seek higher value-added for them. In the present era, innovation as a necessity for sustainable economic growth and development, improvement of living standards and economic prosperity of people has been considered by economic experts. On the other hand, the development of innovation in each country requires a capital formation to secure the necessary financing. All countries, developing ones in particular, can through flow of foreign direct investments attract financial resources and transfer of technology to create a platform for innovation to grow and thrive. Therefore considering the important role of innovation and foreign direct investment in increasing the competitive strength, this study investigates the relationship between foreign direct investments and innovative visions in Iran’s economy compared to outlook of documented countries during the period between 1995 and 2008. The results of experimental studies indicate the existence of a two-way relationship between foreign direct investment and innovation in these countries. Amongst these countries, Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia have been most successful in attracting foreign direct investment and in the development of innovative components, while Yemen and Tajikistan have shown the weakest performance with respect to attracting the same. Moreover, based on the results, the status of the documented countries in terms of innovation and direct investment indicators is not satisfactory compared to the rest of the world. This may be attributed to problems of absorption capacity, inconsistencies between macro-economic policies, education and research policies, and…. Manuscript profile

The patent system at national level fulfills several functions and objectives, among which encouraging public disclosure of filed patent applications is an important one. In all technologically advanced countries, patent applications are publicly disclosed after 18 month from the filing date regardless of whether a patent has been or will be granted. Therefore, one needs to ask why disclosing information contained in patent applications is important at national level. How the society benefits from it? In this paper, we examine patent disclosure as a primary function of patent system. Then we investigate both de jure and de facto patent disclosure in Iran. Based on a recent research in the field, we argue that although Iranian legislators have consciously promoted patent disclosure, the practice is well outside international accepted norms and standards. We finally argue that in absence of corrective measures, the Iranian patent system continued to be ineffective and fails to play its due role in the country's science and technology development. Competition and growth have made organizations to be always looking for competition advantages and the most common way to gain that is innovation. Now the main question is what can be the most important innovation in organizations? For this reason researchers focus on innovation and its types. They offer several models and patterns. Literature review indicates the presence of multiple and sometimes conflicting views. This paper, combines ideas from previous authors and proposes comprehensive models for classifying types of innovation. Information of assemblage method in this article is library method, and use of the internet resources and research method is a comparison between the past research conclusions and an integrating research. By comparing and integrating pervious viewpoints, three main dimensions are provided: 1- the focus area (result/ process) 2- type of approach (current / new) 3- types of change (radical/incremental). By using these three dimensions, a model is presented which consists of all types of innovations in itself and integrated different pervious scholars’ points of view. With this model managers can decide which type of innovation can be used in their agenda and where to begin work. Manuscript profile

Innovation is the capability of identifying opportunities and using their advantages. These opportunities are not just opening new markets but include the innovative processes and ways for existing markets. Actually, innovation is not just production of goods, and examples of innovation can be seen in the service sector and public and private sectors. Innovation intrinsically is a risky project and even developed firms cannot accept infinite risks. In fact, the question is not that if innovation should be done or not, but rather how this innovation can be successful and which feedback could be gained from its success and failure and reaching a pattern that can be applied in future activities. Always the main question has been "whether or not we can control and manage what is known as innovation". At first glance, it might seem that managing innovation is impossible and a complex process. But we believe that despite the uncertain and apparently random-nature of the innovation, it is possible to find an underlying pattern of success. Innovation is a "management" issue because there are decisions to be made about resources, disposition, composition and coordination among them. In this paper after expressing concepts of innovation and managing innovation, a conceptual model and its usage structure is presented in order to concentrate on key aspects of managing innovation. Next, creation and maintenance of an innovative organizational context will be discussed and finally a comparative analysis of managing innovation between Japanese and Korean firms will be reflected. Policy decisions are shaped by policy makers’ conceptualization of development. Development is a value based and normative concept, and accordingly, there are various approaches to it. Science is the key to the creation of wealth in a "national economic development approach". Therefore, policy makers invest on human and social capital as valuable assets. Firms are important because they could cause growth and wealth. According to the literature in this field, there is a positive correlation between innovation and inequality. It means that inequality will increase by increasing innovation. But the wealth derived from innovation can later be used to reduce that inequality. In contrast, the concern for "human development approach" is improving human quality of life, and speaks about Pro-poor, Para-poor, and Per-poor innovations. Some economists argue about development as freedom and improvement of people capabilities. The concern for "capability approach" is improving human opportunities, eliminating inequalities, and achieving justice. Freedom and capability are prerequisites for people creativity. Because of the paradoxes in different development approaches mentioned above, in this article the relationship between innovation and inequality is examined and a negative correlation is found. Less social and human capabilities has resulted in less innovation and more inequalities in various dimensions. Therefore, a greater emphasis on enhancing human capabilities is recommended in policy making efforts. Manuscript profile

Three factors act major roles in air industry: first, economies of scale. Second, airframe manufacturing .Third, in the case of airplanes, development, modification and maintenance require extremely intimate manufacturer-customer relations or user-active innovation. In this sense, every passenger jet that takes-off, is in fact a customized product rather than a homogenous commodity. These three are the most important things to pay attention in air industry in this article .here we compare NIS in Japan, Russia, Brazil and analyze what they have done for improving aviation industry. Networks of collaborative relationships among firms are an important form of organization with innovative activities. Especially in innovative and technology intensive industries, firms increasingly realize that, in order to tap into new technologies and know- how, internal development needs to be complemented with strategic collaborations. Strategic networks potentially: - Provide firms with (a) access to information, resources, markets, and technologies, and (b) advantages from learning, scale, and scope economies; - Allow firms to achieve strategic objectives such as sharing risks and outsourcing value-chain stages and organizational functions. On the other hand, innovation which is the corner stone for any company to be sustainable is often identified as a key to inter-companies competitiveness and is promoted through various policy initiatives in many countries. Today, innovation is no longer carried out within individual companies, but often crosses borders in the form of innovation networks. But according to Damanpour, current developed theories which have been studied and suggested during three last decades, dont sufficiently clear and explain the innovative processes and suitable and required conditions for them to become successful. The changed operation settings in companies require a rethinking of appropriate approaches, that is the scope of this paper. In spite of great efforts of companies in managing innovation and connecting and communicating with supplier, partners and research institutions to do this management more properly, information and statistic data show that suitable and coherent approaches have not yet been established. Hence this paper addresses the existing perspectives for managing innovations in networks and their value for practitioners. Manuscript profile

We are living in a world where the complexity of cause and effect relations is in a continuous increase. The owners of the new ideas, their supporters and the beneficiaries encounter different questions for starting a new business activity. The questions such as Will this idea become successful or not? or What kinds of supports and considerations are necessary for this idea to be successful? are some examples. The idea assessment process is an important and interesting subject for both innovators and incubators managers so that it make the former familiar with the probable strengths and weaknesses and for the latter i.e. the managers of incubators the significance is in admitting the owners of ideas in incubators and starting to support them based on their needs in the early stages of the innovation process. The Innovation Development Early Assessment System has been developed for the assessment of the possibility of commercializing the ideas in the early stages of innovation. This paper will introduce this system and it further addresses the method of improving and developing it as a tool in the hands of the incubators managers helping them in the admission process of companies and helping them to recognize the support services required by their tenants during their residency in the incubator. It will also look at this system as a tool for making the owners of ideas familiar with the probable barriers and obstacles that may lead to their failure. The improvement method proposed for this system has been defined with regard to the existing conditions of the applicants of settlement in the incubator. A case study and the analysis of the results obtained through this system will come at the final part of this paper. Manuscript profile

In the current decade, knowledge based economy is a popular term in the scientific circles of the country. This word has attracted the attention of many scholars and experts. The global index of knowledge based economy has four foundations, and innovation is one of these bases. In the area of innovation, Iran has less privilege than the global average. In order to promote the level of innovation and, consequently, the level of knowledge-based economy, using the global statistics in the field of knowledge based economy and innovation, in this paper first of all, we recognize the important input factors influencing the innovation and then we compare the status of these inputs with the global average. After identifying the weaknesses in the inputs, the status of these measures is reviewed in the Sixth Development Plan document. According to the findings, it was found that in the sixth program of development, only gross domestic product (GDP) per unit of energy consumption was pointed out, and no direct reference was made to other measures. Comparison of measures with the global average showed that in order to improve the output of innovation, the country needs to improve the level of research and development, knowledge workers, ICT and the political environment. On the other hand, identifying the most important dimensions affected from technological innovation within and outside the organization is a guide for managers in order to achieve the goals of the organizations; that reveals the importance of paying attention to this kind of innovation. A litrature review shows that many researchers have identified, prioritized and studied the impact of the factors. But there is no comprehensive research that collectively brings together all the factors and classifies them in certain categories. In this study, by reviewing previous studies, we tried to identify all factors using content analysis method, and categorized these factors as organizational and non-organizational effective and impressive. During the review, more than 20 factors were identified. then the dimensions and components of every factor were explained. The most important factor of technological innovation that is critical to pay attention to is the company's performance. But the decision about most effective factor can not be made. Therefore, organizations should pay particular attention to technological innovation in order to improve their financial performance. in order to improve performance, firms and organizations should look consider all the effective factors and try to control and improve the organizational factors specially in order to improve the technological innovation. Today, as global competition in the business world grows, companies need to have a close relationship with their suppliers in order to survive and achieve reasonable profits. Researchers have recently examined some models for supplier selection, with less attention to the determination of collaboration pattern with selected partners. Despite much research on the types of collaboration models, their features, requirements and achievements, providing a comprehensive and uppropriate model for selecting the most appropriate type of relationship between the two partner organizations has not been sufficiently considered. Generally, supplier-buyer collaboration patterns include outsourcing, strategic alliance, joint investment and ownership. The purpose of this research is to design a model that determines the appropriate collaboration model according to the product characteristics, business conditions and goals of the organization. The model uses profit, opportunity, cost and risk structure, which is a comprehensive and useful model for strategic decisions. In this research, the choice of collaboration model between two partner organizations is investigated in order to design radar components. By library study and interviewing with the experts of the Iranian Defense Industry Organization, the factors influencing the selection of the appropriate cooperation model for the relationship between the two partner organizations were identified and prioritized. A Hierarchical Analysis Process Model (AHP) is designed to prioritize the relevant criteria and sub-criteria. The history of the 21st century will be marked by technology and innovation. Technology is the new wealth of nations. Standardization plays an important role in the development of technology because these standards of technology determine the development path of that technology. In other words, in order to develop technology, in addition to innovation, it is necessary to define standards beyond the present and in proportion to the innovations, and the success of companies depends on the fact that the intended innovations can become a standard for that technology. In other words, in addition, need innovation to develop technology, it is necessary to define standards beyond the present and in proportion to the innovations, and the success of companies depends on the fact that the intended innovations can become a standard for that technology. In this research, a descriptive-survey study, by using correlation analysis of variables and multiple regression relationships, we try to investigate the relationship between standardization and innovation in some of the country's automotive industries and determine how and what standardization affects innovation. The results of this study show that standardization generally has a positive and significant correlation with different types of innovation, which is weak in fundamental innovations compared to gradual innovations. According to the results, the automotive industry was suggested to establish standards development units in research and development departments in order to prevent the inhibitory effects of standardization on fundamental innovations in addition to increasing, reducing research and development costs, and reducing technology risk.
